[Welcome to the Lunch Box Pad Discussion Board] I finally have the discussion board up. It's new, so their still might be some bugs. If you experience any problems, please e-mail me right away. I've been very busy over the last few days. I created the whole site in about 30 hours total. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I enjoyed creating it!

[My favorite lunch box] My favorite lunch box is my C 10 masters of the universe lunch box!

Bryan (bryan@echoroom.com) 12/27/1998 at 0:12
[RE: My favorite lunch box] I also have a store stock Masters Of The Universe (1983). I love the color of the box. I didn't watch the cartoon too much as a kid though.

[Beatles blue box] Does anyone know what year the Beatles blue box came out exactly? I see it listed as 1965, and 1966. Is their anyone that remembers getting it in '65? I hate it when boxes don't put dates on them!

[RE: how to clean your boxex?] Larry Aikens sells a lunchbox cleaner that I have found to be well worth paying for. It will even remove light surface rust, without hurting the paint or finish.

Bryan (bryan@echoroom.com) 12/29/1998 at 13:07
[RE: how to clean your boxex?] Yes, Aikins cleaner does work well. I used it on a metal thermos that I tried everything on. It cleaned it beautifully. It's not harsh like some of the stuff people use on their items. I would recommend it.

[Lost In Space box by G-whiz] If anyone likes the Lost In Space box, but doesn't have an authentic one at the moment, I would suggest getting the reproduction that G-whiz produced this year. I just got my box in today, and it looks great. Usually I wouldn't recommend a reproduction, but this box is worth the $25.00 that it costs. The box will hold you over until you get the real thing. It looks very nice on my shelf, and I glance at it wishing it was an original in that condition!

[lunch box hardware] is it difficult to replace latches and handles? If I bend the metal of the latch to take it off will the metal break (the metal that wraps around to the inside to hold the latch in place)? I would like to replace some old hardware but if people have had bad experiences I would like to know.

[1986 Transformers Lunchbox] I just niticed something strange on my Transformers lunchbox.....the Thermos has pictures of the origional charachters and a date of 1984, while the Box itself has more of the "new, improved" characters that were created when the show was failing, and has a date of 1986. Can anyone expalian this to me? Why is the Thermnos date 2 years older? I have only ever seen one version of the Transformer box listed anywhere......

[How to find disposable lunch box?] Hi guys, I came from People's Republic of China and study in America for my master degree now. In China it causes a serious pollution because of all the lunch box are made from chmical material which can't be disposed. One of my friend has key interest to import some machine to produce lunch box made from Biodegradable starch. If anyone knows the manufacture name , pls inform me at olive_pan@yahoo.com Thanks in advance and best regards. Olive

Bryan (bryan@echoroom.com) 1/22/1999 at 18:45
[RE: 1986 Transformers Lunchbox] I don't know why the dates are different, but I have the same dates for my Transformers kit. I think they were just using the original copyright for the thermos. This thermos was also the same for the plastic box I believe. The lunchbox, being manufactured after the inception of the transformers, probably just got a later copyright. That's like on ''Peanuts'' stuff. They display like 5 copyright dates.

[Campus Queen Thermos Cup 1967] King Seely had a 1967 Campus Queen Lunchbox. The Aiken book and others show a cream colored cup, but I have seen a couple of red cups from different people selling on line. Does anyone know if KS made two different colored cups? Thanks

Bryan (bryan@echoroom.com) 1/23/1999 at 22:34
[RE: Campus Queen Thermos Cup 1967] The Campus Queen thermos was originally made with the "cream" colored cup. From time to time I also see thermoses with different color cups on eBay. This is mainly due to the fact that they would rather sell the thermos with a cup than without. Other times people purchase the thermos thinking that they have the correct cup. By viewing the same items on-line, you can usually find the correct color, just by viewing each item and noting the color of the cup. Or, just get some books from the "Books On Boxes" page!

Bryan (bryan@echoroom.com) 2/24/1999 at 23:53
[RE: Help regarding cleaning Lunchboxes] ...about removing rust, you'll never do that. You may remove the rust stains, but once the rust starts, you can only control it, and make sure it doesn't spread anymore. Some people also don't like to use water to clean a dirty box. My Flintstones box I have was very dirty, and really there was only one way to start cleaning it, with some soapy water w/ a little dish detergent. Don't use any harsh scrubb brushes or pads, just use a soft sponge. If you use water, I recommend wiping it down thoroughly, and using a hair dryer to dry up any moisture that might remain after you clean it. Moisture is your number one worst enemy. For boxes that just need a cleaning, I found that Goo-Gone works great. I use goo-gone with cotton balls, Q-tips to clean every inch of thte box (it also leaves the box smelling citrus which is a nice fragrence. the smell will wear off) That usually gets the box sparkling. I also use Larry Aikins cleaner as a final step on the front and back of the box. Any dirt left over is cleaned up. The cleaner did a great job on my Barbie thermos. Always be careful when cleaning your boxes, and please use caution. The methods mentioned above work great for me, but please clean your boxes at your own risk.

[Two types of Star Wars 1977 Metal Lunchboxs?] I own a 1977 star wars lunchbox, very clean for its age. I am a little confused however by the ones at auction on ebay. My box only has pictures on the front and back, but the ones at auction also have pictures on the sides. Were there two made? Is mine less valuable because it does not have the additional pictures?

Bryan (bryan@echoroom.com) 5/30/1999 at 14:43
[RE: Two types of Star Wars 1977 Metal Lunchboxs?] Yes, there were two versions made. One with pictures on the band, and one with just stars on the band (the one that you have). The box with just stars on the band is actually worth a bit more.

[National Airlines Metal Lunch Box] I have a National Airlines Metal lunch box that I would like to get appraised. I have searched through many stores, sites and books and haven't been able to find this particular box. Does this mean that it's rare?????I would say that it is circa 1960's. The front of the box has a photograph of three pilots and two stewardesses in the foreground with a National Airlines airplane in the background. The back has a photo of a National Airlines plane flying in the sky. along the side of the box are various airline names from Lufthansa to Eastern to Northwest Orient. Many of these airlines no longer exist. It was made by Ohio Art, but I can't find a date on it. It is in good, not perfect condition. There is a bit of rust on it and a couple of scratches. Nothing major.Any advice? Any knowledge of this particular box? I would appreciate any info you could give me.Thanks!

Bryan (bryan@echoroom.com) 6/17/1999 at 13:18
[RE: Help regarding cleaning Lunchboxes] I would be reluctant to use WD-40 as a cleaner/preserver on my boxes, partly becuase the long term effect it may have on the painted areas. Typically, WD-40 protects against rust on metal. If stored properaly, the painted surfaces of boxes won't generate rust if the metal isn't scraped off. So there is really no need to protect the box with WD-40. Also, if there is rust present, the way to prevent the rust from spreading is clean the rusted area as best you can to remove rust particles, and keep your boxes in a dry place and in a constant temperature/low humidity environment. low/high temperature fluctuations can cause moisture to build up inside/outside of the box. Any bare areas that can be effected by rust will. I find that Goo-Gone (a very mild, non abrasive liquid cleaner) can get just about any dirt/grime off your boxes. I also use Larry Aikins lunch box cleaner as a final protectant. It usually gets anything that goo-gone missed. I've been using this method for over a year now, and it works great. Just keep your boxes out of direct sunlight, and dust them off every now and then with a soft duster, and they will last forever.

[RE: Display of Boxes] In response to the post listed at the bottom of the page.I think that would be a great feature to add to this site. Collectors could send in photos of their collections displayed at home. That could add a unique feel to the site. I've been busy updating the site, but this will be on my list of add-ons. Good thinking Roz.

[Roy Rogers Lunch Kit] I still have the lunch box I started school with back in 1963. It is a Roy Rogers lunch kit in the shape of a chuck wagon. It is quite unique and although I don't know if I'd be willing to part with it I was wondering if you knew if it was worth something.I do not have the thermos as that broke not to long after I got the kit and it is not in perfect shape but it's not bad.Was even thinking that the Roy Rogers museum in california might be interested in it since Roy has now passed away.I look forward to a reply.Kathy Newell

I picked up a box today at a thrift store and so far all the Lunch box links I have scanned have not had one like it. The art is from Ohio Art the "clasp" has Atco on it. The front features a cowboy on a horse leading a wagon train outlinded in what looks to be a fire border. The back of the box has a game "Go West" with a "indented" compass with a spinner and then instructions to play a game supplying your own pennies. It is really neat! Any help in identifying it would be great. Please email me at LadyLindsey@aol.comThanksLindsey

[dukes of hazard] This is the first time I have been to this site, and I collect lunch boxes, but I collect them because I use them for purses. (collecters probably think I'm a moron, but I'm 17 so that should clear up a few things) I got my first one, dukes of hazard, from my grandma so I never plan on selling it anyway, and my second one is a pacman one. Although I don't plan on selling them I was just curious if anyone knew the value

[Star Trek dome] Have a Star Trek dome lunchbox from when I was a kid,1967 if I remember right. Although it is not in like new condition, it is in good shape with minor scuffs and scratches, mostly at corners. I do not have the thermos that came with it. Would entertain any reasonable offers (I have seen it listed anywhere from $200 to $400 depending on condition) and would be willing to make an attempt to scan an image to give an idea of condition and e-mail to any interested parties.

[Aladdin Winnie The Pooh; 1967 or 1976?] The Aladdin metal lunch box Winnie The Pooh (light blue border) has been listed as 1967 in numerous books, and on countless websites. One book, however, Scott Bruce's 'Official Guide To Lunch Box Collectibles', lists this book as 1976, and this after some research, 1976 is the correct date. This metal box comes with an all plastic thermos. Aladdin started using these thermoses in the early 70's (as found with Emergency!) and continued until they stopped producing boxes in the mid-80's.If this box was produced in 1967, it would be a metal thermos, or a plastic with a glass filler (late 60's model as found with Land Of The Giants). If anyone was a kid in the mid 70's and had an Aladdin Winnie The Pooh metal lunch box, please e-mail me so I can confirm this date with more info.

[Saving Up For Jetsons...] I'm currently dropping all plans to buy any lunch boxes for a few months. Then, I will search for the most perfect specimen of the Jetsons dome I can find. Price will be no object, and with any luck I can find the thermos in the same perfect condition. I will sacrifice many boxes from now until then, but getting the right Jetsons box now will save me headaches and money in the future. I will also be adding some new things to this website. Read the Website News on the home page, and don't forget to sign up for the mailing list.

It would be just the gift to give her a much needed moral boost. Let me know. THANK YOU
