Schein, Leo
A New York-based wallpaper artist, working as a freelancer, created the art for many of KST's plastic kits in the 1980s, including Cabbage Patch Kids, Smurfs, and Snorks.
Wenner, Dee
A Nashville freelancer hired by Aladdin to create the kit art for Sabrina, New Zoo Review, and many generic Brunch Bags in the 1970s.
Wexler, Ed
As an illustrator in American Can's art department, Wexler created the art for most of American Thermos' steel lunch boxes from 1953 through 1964, including the Roy Rogers series, Boating, Brave Eagle, Trigger, Davy Crockett, and Hometown Airport.
As an artist, Wexler specialized in picturing ripe, succulent, and delicious foods. This style is evident on many of his kit creations. For example, the hydroplane driver's helmets on the Boating box resemble maraschino cherries, and Trigger looks like a rearing cornish game hen.
By the one surviving account, Wexler retired from American Can in 1964. It is unclear whether KST ever directly had his original lunch kit art, but if they did it was thrown out in 1986.
Wood, Wally
EC Comics' top artist in the 1950s, Wood worked on Weird Science and Weird Fantasy, Two Fisted Tales, and Front Line comics. Wood occasionally freelanced for lunch box manufacturers. He created the art for Universal's Supercar kit, then through contacts with Nick LoBianco, he did the finished Popeye and Fireball XL5 kit art for KST.
Wood created the character of Free Fall Ferris for MAD magazine and worked periodically for that magazine throughout the 1960s. After suffering from chronic headaches for decades, Wood committed suicide in 1984.
